This feature lets you hide or display questions and answers based on certain conditions. Depending on specific cases you define, not all your respondents will have the same answer path in your survey.

It's the right feature to offer specific questions to some respondents. Logically, this also makes it possible to isolate parts of a campaign, which you don't want certain respondents to see. For example, you can display questions depending on their answer to the previous question, the respondent's location etc...

You can also create multiple question paths within the same campaign to analyze the impact on survey results.

Use case: The marketing team of a luxury shop needs to know the waiting time of its customers in a normal context, outside exceptional event. Precisely, last week, an incident took place and an alarm sounded at 3:30PM. Agents were unable to honor their client appointments for 10 mins. In order not to affect the results of their investigation, they decided not to ask certain clients for the waiting time (those who had an appointment at 3.30 pm).

Respondents concerned by the alarm will fill the survey normally without access to the question about waiting time. Let's see how to setup the campaign of this shop.

Display a question or not

We want to display the question "How long did you wait [...]?" for all customers who didn't have an appointment at 3:30pm.

This question will be conditioned by the answer to the previous question "What time was your appointment at?".

Click on the "Display conditions" button,

Then click on "Add a new condition".

To display a conditional answer, the setup is the same.
 Open the question in which you want to setup answer, and click on the "Add a new condition" button.

Choose a condition

Up to 12 conditions are still available, most of them can be used at the same time. In this case, only the "Answer" condition will be necessary.

You can choose the question that interests you and the specific answer that determines whether or not your question is displayed.

Here we want to post questions to respondents who did not have an appointment at 3:30 pm, so we need to post it to anyone who had an appointment at a different time.

After checking the condition, click the "Validate" button to finish.

A visual indication (orange pictogram) confirms that the conditional display of the question is in effect.

You have completed the implementation of the condition.

The rules are obviously the same between the questions and the answers: if a question is not displayed then the answer will not be either.

Stats

Once your campaign has been activated and the first answers collected, you can go to the Stats section to analyze the data.

To do so, go to the menu "Stats" > "Reports" > "Customized".

Now create a new report, add two statistical thumbnails with their respective values (questions):

Our report is called "Waiting Time" with the thumbnail titles as "What time was your appointment at?" and "How long did you wait?" and their "Questions" dimensions.

Here we are interested in the percentage of answers per question:

We can verify these several points:

  • If a question or answer is not displayed for a respondent, then, logically, his feedback on that question will not appear in the total.
  • The display in the campaign Stats will be the same as that for a sub-question.

Our campaign was submitted to two respondents. Only one was able to answer the question "How long did you wait?". It's the client who did not meet at 3:30 PM.

All you need to do is repeat the operation as many times as necessary according to your needs.
